David Miscavige Leads Scientology to Milestone Year
Under ecclesiastical leader David Miscavige, the Scientology religion expanded more in 2012 than in any 12 months of its 60-year history.

2012 was a milestone year for Scientology, with the religion expanding to more than 10,000 Churches, Missions and affiliated groups, spanning 167 nations–figures that represent a growth rate 20 times that of a decade ago.The driving force behind this unparalleled era of growth is David Miscavige, ecclesiastical leader of the Scientology religion. Mr. Miscavige is unrelenting in his work for millions of parishioners and the cities served by Scientology Churches. He has led a renaissance for the religion itself, while driving worldwide programs to serve communities through Church-sponsored social and humanitarian initiatives.David Miscavige spearheaded a program to build every Church of Scientology into what Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard termed “Ideal Organizations” (Ideal Orgs). This new breed of Church is idealin location, design, quality of religious services and social betterment programs. Each is uniquely configured to accommodate the full array of Scientology services for both parishioners and the surrounding community. Ideal Orgs further house extensive public information multimedia displays that introduce every facet of Dianetics and Scientology, along with libraries, course and seminar rooms for an introduction to and study of Scientology Scripture. Chapels serve to host Sunday Services and other congregational gatherings.It is from these Ideal Churches that Scientologists extend their humanitarian programs to mitigate intolerance, illiteracy, immorality and drug abuse. Hamburg, Germany: January 21, 2012 The Scientology religion’s unprecedented year of expansion began when more than 1,500 Scientologists, dignitaries and guests gathered in Altstadt, historic birthplace of Hamburg, Germany, to dedicate the city’s Church of Scientology. Located at Domstrasse 9, it stands in a landmark square of renowned churches at the spiritual heart of the old city and has been home to the Church for more than a decade. Sacramento, California: January 28, 2012 David Miscavige dedicated the new Church of Scientology Sacramento Ideal Org in ceremonies attended by 2,500 Scientologists, their guests and city and state dignitaries. The Church building, the former Ramona Hotel, is a historic landmark located between Old Town Sacramento and California’s State Capitol. Greater Cincinnati: February 25, 2012 The Church of Scientology Greater Cincinnati inaugurated its new home to serve a growing congregation in the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana Tri-state region. David Miscavige was joined by more than a thousand Scientologists and state, county and city officials who celebrated the opening of the 50,000-square-foot Church, which stands on a three-acre campus. Santa Ana, California: June 2, 2012 The Church of Scientology Orange County, standing just miles from Anaheim’s famed “Magic Kingdom,” was inaugurated by David Miscavige before more than 5,000 Scientologists, guests and city and state dignitaries. The Church’s new landmark home, located in the city of Santa Ana, is listed on city, state and national registers of historic places. San Jose, California: June 9, 2012 Thousands assembled to witness David Miscavige rededicate the Church of Scientology Stevens Creekin San Jose, California. The ceremony marked the transformation of the 57,000-square-foot Ideal Org to better accommodate its expanding congregation and extend the Church’s humanitarian programs to all communities across Silicon Valley. Denver, Colorado: June 16, 2012 In the Rocky Mountain capital of Denver, Colorado, David Miscavige was joined by thousands of Scientologists, guests and dignitaries to dedicate the new home of the Church of Scientology–a 44,000-square-foot facility that stands one block from Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies, in the heart of the Ballpark Neighborhood Historic District. Phoenix, Arizona: June 23, 2012 In late June, the ribbon parted on the new Church of Scientology of Phoenix, Arizona, birthplace of the Scientology religion. The new Church comprises a complex of buildings located one mile south of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard’s historic home in the shadow of Camelback Mountain. Buffalo, New York: June 30, 2012 To cap a month wherein a new Ideal Church was dedicated every week, Scientologists and senior executives from 24 Churches of Scientology across the Eastern Seaboard, the Great Lakes Region and Canada gathered in Buffalo, New York, to join David Miscavige and cut a ribbon on that city’s newly transformed landmark Ideal Org. Los Gatos, California: July 28, 2012 Fifteen hundred Scientologists from across the San Francisco Bay Area gathered to rededicate theChurch of Scientology Los Gatos. David Miscavige led the dedication with local Church officials. The Church is now fully equipped to deliver the entire spectrum of Dianetics and Scientology services and provide Church-sponsored humanitarian programs to communities throughout the region. Tel Aviv, Israel: August 21, 2012 National and city dignitaries as well as religious leaders joined Scientologists from Israel and 27 nations as David Miscavige dedicated the new Center of Scientology in Tel Aviv–the first Ideal Organization in the Middle East. The Center is located on Jaffa’s legendary Jerusalem Boulevard in the historic Alhambra Theater. Washington, D.C.: September 12, 2012 The Church of Scientology opened its new National Affairs Office in Washington, D.C., in a ceremony led by David Miscavige. Joining him in this dedication were Members of U.S. Congress Rep. Dan Burton (R-IN), Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) and Danny Davis (D-IL); as well as Liz Gibson, Senior Program Manager, Federal Emergency Management Agency. The establishment of the National Affairs Office was necessitated by the Church’s unprecedented worldwide growth and commensurate demand for Church-sponsored programs. The building, the landmark Fraser Mansion dating from 1890, is a nationally registered historic landmark. Padova, Italy: October 27, 2012 Before a gathering of more than 7,000 Scientologists and their guests from across Europe, David Miscavige led dedication ceremonies for the Church of Scientology of Padova, Italy. The Church’s new home, the Villa Francesconi-Lanza, is located in Padova’s northern district of Arcella and was originally constructed in 1744.
